In praise of the Morrigan

You come this moonlit night upon glossy wings
Your gown of black opal silken brilliance
Sets this blue night ablaze with diamond

Do You come to peck out my eyes?
Have You come to feast upon my soul?

I stand before You, bared as I must be
To steel my heart with courage
Though fear may lick at the doors of my heart
You honor the strength in my eyes
Though the cold teases my moonlit blue flesh
You behold my bravery at this seat of the Divine

I drink Your wine and the warmth of war fills my veins
I behold Your beauty and the fire of life fills my body

You arm me with Your black feathered helm
To guard against the ignorance of the unwise

You shield me with Your woven shield of cunning
To overcome any puzzling circumstance

You grant me Your Royal kiss
The gift of wisdom, Your strategies hot within my head

I sit in praise of You, a soldier in your army
Fighting back the chaos of the world
Reborn this holy night
